Here’s my new mantra:

Relax

I’ve been working with a friend’s jaw over the last several months, using Craniosacral Therapy. Today she stated with a smile that we probably don’t need to work on the jaw; she had given up on energy drinks!

I laughed. “Oh really?”

“Yeah,” she said, “Since I quit <drink that shall not be named> the tension I’ve felt around needing to grind my teeth has drastically decreased.”

And she was right! Her clenching muscles were way more relaxed than they had been, even when I started.

Did craniosacral therapy fix her problem? Probably not.

But it was helpful in reminding her what relaxation felt like again. And then she sought out the means to continue feeling so.
